Obedience (poem)

Since a sermon was given on that mount,
We set our feet along a narrow path
Ever zealous, we simply obey
"It leads to life; the wide one to death"
We make a choice and go straight
We never look back to moan or sigh
We think not of what the world has in store
We have more than what we left
Thorns prick, thwart and trammel our fearless feet
Still, we go, vowing to stay the course or die.

Though far away from the wide way come voices
Mocking, jesting and laughing at us, and
At the wisdom of that which we've chosen;
They are bounded not; they walk side by side
The voices toll wildly, jabbing at us:
"Come, fools! Come treasure some measure of leisure
For who knows? Tomorrow we may die." Yet,
We're moved not to repent or regret.

Only a poor rich man eased his soul.

Since a sermon was given, yes, since then
We've stridden off and never tried to stray;
A matry was stoned to death as he prayed
Then, being confused, we were scattered
Simon was hanged head-down for praising the Lord
Paul's pate was chopped for same offence
Many of us still die in bonds like mere monkeys...
But that for which we're called stays intact!
Fearless "die-hards." Ahead, staunch brethren, move!

Kingdom Poems: Ancient of Days

Who proves older? Or claims younger?
Tell Methuselah he spent but hours
Go, tell a babe its skin is rough!

Call Solomon a fool
O call Samson a weakling
Tell Moses he was too harsh!

Ah, merciful. Slow to anger!
Yes, when provoked
You wreathe the rage of Nemesis, Lord!

Who feeds men's eyes with wonders great?
Who constructs things simple or complex?
Who heals, preserves,...revives?

He split the sea to make a dam
And Jacob crossed a dry valley!

He struck a rock. He split a rock
Forcing water out... torrents... "Drink!"

Who tore lions as men tear rags?
Who shut boastful beast's mouth?
He loves us, see! Ah, this to show,
Forsook his son to redeem sundry souls!

This blazing blood could bleach us clean.

Bleach us clean! Prepare our hearts
To learn to store and henceforth clinch
What Wisdom, Truth and Life do teach!

Kingdom Poems: Jehovah

Countless men bear "Jesus"
Mere chance or birth acclaims men "lords!"
Are idols not evoked as gods?
Even then, of none but the living God is it said:
"That men may know that thou, whose
Name ALONE is JEHOVAH, art the
Most High over all the earth."

Kingdom Poems: Praise Him

Praise him!
Shout in triumph.
Praise now
The King of Eternity
Hail him!
Enter the singular global sovereign
Praise Jah!
For Eternity
Praise the Sole Creator.

Adore now the King of kings
Adore Lord of lords.

Kingdom Poems: Christ

Jesus is Lord
Earthwide he's Lord
Sing out his praise
Until his grace
Saves us from grave.

Jesus is king!
Exult, O, sing!
Say "Amen, come"
Until he comes
Sing "Lord, welcome."

Jesus reigns on!
Exalt him, all,
Say "Wars he's won"
Until we shout,
Saviour he is."

Kingdom Poems: Eden

I like to be in that place
Far from here; far, far away from here
Where things just go right.

In that place where good health abounds
No pain, no sickness.

Every day a child is born
Yet no one grows old
Or dies.

Birds sing sweetly on luxuriant trees
Orchards blossom so, so well
Fruits are ripe,
Ripe so well for man to eat.

I love to dwell in that place
Always.

"This Goodnews of God's Kingdom will be preached..."

The early disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ made good use of various ways to preach and teach the good news, spreading its message far and wide... legally establishing the good news of God's kingdom wherever they went. Hath the Lord not said: "this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." ? (Matthew 24:14)
